BYU Singers loaded the bus Tuesday morning, made themselves comfortable in their home-away-from-home for the next week, and began the journey to Boise. We arrived in good time mid-afternoon, and were greeted by our sponsors and the staff of the Cathedral of the Rockies. This is a truly beautiful cathedral. The choir and Dr. Crane were thrilled to realize that the acoustics there are every bit as rewarding as the surroundings.
The choir was joined by the choir from Rocky Mountain High School, directed by Brandi Cook. Dr. Crane conducted them in “He Watching over Israel” by Mendelssohn, while Ms. Cook conducted “You Will Be Found” from “Dear Evan Hansen.” One soloist was from the high school, and Ethan Simpson (originally from the nearby town of Eagle) represented BYU Singers.
After a delicious dinner furnished by the BYU Alumni and Costa Vida, BYU Singers performed their concert to a full house. Or rather a full cathedral. In any event, all there were most appreciative and enthusiastic. It was a thrilling beginning to the tour.
After the concert, the choir loaded the bus for a 2-hour drive to Baker, Oregon and a good rest after a very full day.
