We drove for several hours today to reach Lulworth, a beautiful seaside town with a famous cove and a great view from the overlook. Since we drove through rain on the way, there was a great debate over whether to risk the stop. Ultimately we did, and the rain held off the hour or so we were there. Most of us hiked to the top of the overlook, and were glad we did. The views outweighed the climb. There were lots of shops and restaurants and charming homes with thatched roofs, but not nearly enough time to wander around to appreciate it all. Our host, Erich Weidmann of the Poole Stake, met us there and led the way up to the top. We could tell from the first meeting that this would be a wonderful stay, and it has proved so thus far.
We drove an hour back to Bournemouth and the site of the night’s concert: St. Peter’s School, De La Salle Performing Arts Theatre. The audience seats are quite steeply raked, with the performers on the floor. After a rehearsal to work out some of the logistics, we headed in for a very delicious dinner with lots of choices. The desserts were just a little preview of the delicacies that were on sale during the interval and after the concert to aid the local charity.
The concert was very, very successful, with two encores and several standing ovations from the near-capacity audience. They obviously loved every piece that was sung. A Member of Parliament addressed the audience at the concert’s close, to talk of the charity that the concert benefited. Dr. Staheli was presented with a gorgeous piece of pottery that was made locally. It was a very good evening, and ended with the choir mingling with the audience as the sponsors worked hard to sell more goodies to help the charity.
We are happy to be staying in Bournemouth two nights, and happy to be leaving Monday as the MP told us snow is forecast. There must be some warmer areas somewhere in England! I’m just not sure we will find any this trip…

What an evening!! Everything was total perfection from the first moment to the last chord: we had a wonderful time. The blend, the dynamics, the sheer musicality and joy. Above all, the direction was superb, -never too much, always discreet, the music always being the most important thing. We’re still talking about it 24 hours later. I’m hoping that, if I were a very lucky guy indeed, I would be in London on Friday and hear ‘Northern Lights’ in St Paul’s Cathedral….. One can hope. Anyway, thank you to every one of you for one of the best concerts ever. Best wishes from Bournemouth, Sean
Thank you for an inspired and inspiring programme on Saturday. I wish I had the chance to come to another concert before you leave – Guildford or London – but family commitments prevent it. I will have to be content with what I can download from iTunes, and with the memory of your outstanding musicianship, your consummate professionalism, and the warmth of the welcome from local church members. An oasis of joy and hope in a fraught period of my life. Thank you all, and please come back soon.
Oh, I want to be there! Thanks for the wonderful pictures and posts. My youngest, Ian, is singing the role of Colin in The Secret Garden right now, and during each performance of “Hold On” I wish I could hear Singers!

These pictures are just magnificent! The view of the quaint town along the cliffs and the green meadows is like something out of my dreams! Thank you for letting us experience this along with our son! Enjoy every moment of this experience. I only wish I could hear all of the concerts!
The people of the Poole Stake treated us so well when we stayed there on tour with the BYU Wind Symphony in 1987. You also capture the beauty that makes England distinctive and a wonderful place to visit. Loving your posts!
Wow, Bournemouth is BEAUTIFUL!
